A Family Across Town:
My Father's Double Life
A contemporary memoir about uncovering a life-altering family secret...
Aynah Askanas and her siblings grew up in a Los Angeles suburb with a pediatrician father whose frequent absences were explained away as “hospital emergency calls.” Only in adulthood did they learn the truth: for decades, their father had maintained a second family across town.
"A gripping family memoir crafted by an expert storyteller. Askanas depicts how the seemingly everyday moments of family life take on weighted meaning in the aftermath of a secret revealed."
—Vince Granata, author of Everything is Fine
"What does it mean when the people you love the most withhold the truth? The author takes readers on an amazing ride, exposing the selfish choices that shaped her and her siblings' lives."
—Michael Zimmerman, author of Suburban Bigamy: Six Miles Between Truth and Deceit
"Aynah’s story is one of courage and resilience, and I believe it will motivate many people who might be facing various family issues. I look forward to reading something else from this author.”
